Door-to-Door Walk
August 23, 2006
UPDATED: CANDIDATE LIST 2006
UPDATED: EARLY VOTING SCHEDULE 2006
Over 40 volunteers joined U.S. Congressman Brad Miller and N.C. Representative Maggie Jeffus on a large bus which delivered them to two targeted precincts in Greensboro. The team also met up with N.C. Representative Pricey Harrison’s team and a good group of College Democrats before hitting the streets.
The volunteers were escorted through the precincts by Sheriff candidate Berkley Banks on his ‘gentleman’s tractor.’ During the walk, volunteers spoke with many Greensboro residents about the importance of voting this year, and delivered relevant candidate material (Democratic, of course!). One volunteer team was so effective, we actually gained a canvasser! The lady was so pleased by the contact she said, “wait just a minute for me to get on my shoes and I’ll come out with you.” Now that’s successful communication!
County Chair, Paul Mengert said, "we were very well received in these neighborhoods, which are often perceived as Republican areas, but the voters really like what they hear our candidates saying and this was a great opportunity for one-on-one dialogue with voters."
