In North Carolina there is no constitutional requirement for the legislature to accept public comment on the redrawing of maps, but in past redistricting cycles they have provided that opportunity. This year, we are demanding that public hearings be held across the state before and after redistricting maps are proposed, and in enough locations that all North Carolinians have a reasonable opportunity to participate. Two Public Testimony Trainings have been scheduled to help people prepare to make effective public comments even with little notice. When public hearings are announced, we’ll be ready! Additional rapid-response training opportunities will be scheduled as needed.
