·         We cannot do more than what we did last year – lit drops, canvassing, volunteering. Candidates need to sit down with GCDP and tell the chair exactly what they want.

Precinct Organization

·         Binaya – Calling and emailing chairs. Focusing on organized districts first, then unorganized ones. Calling unorganized precincts every week.

·         Mitzi – Current chairs do not want to continue being chairs. Need to strategize methods for finding new chairs.

·         Byron – Requested link for list of registered voters. Placing greater emphasis on precinct chair importance.

·         Jasmine (DXGC) – Discussing with members if they are in an organized precinct.

·         Keenan (Teem Dems) – Working with Amanda Cook and putting together a fundraiser.

·         Kathy met 1-1 with Skip Alston regarding the violation of the POO and he stated it was an oversight on his part regarding Brandon’s race.

·         The Board is extremely upset that Kathy met with Skip alone when that was voted against in a previous meeting. Several members would like to discuss at the next meeting.

Motion: Do not proceed further with this issue.

·         Celeste marched in both parades.

·         Great turnout and engagement from the communities.

·         Officially begins on 02.25.2023.

·         Kathy will meet with the vice chairs prior to this date.

·         Office space, zoom links, orientation packets.

·         What areas can be combined into cluster precincts?

·         Kathy will meet with the candidate recruitment team on Tuesday, January 17th.

·         Will be working to develop a candidate pipeline to facilitate training and increased name recognition.

Celeste – Wants to work more with the state. Get our faces in the community and let them know we’re available to serve while staying safe.

Byron – Meet with elected officials regarding fundraising and coordination so we’re not doubling efforts. Bring the different groups to the table to engage and build expectations.

BJ – Brainstorm to increase engagement and increase the involvement of individuals who can donate.

Assistance from African American Caucus and other auxiliaries (Mitzi)

Consolidation of smaller Dem precincts in rural areas (Mitzi)

·         Mitzi – How can we move forward with assistance from the AA caucus? Reached out to elected officials for assistance, no response yet.

·         Celeste – Minority precincts fall apart because they feel neglected. We need stable leadership in those precincts. Possibly co-chair with others so that the burden does not fall on one person.

·         Byron – Strong disconnect comes from past leadership. Only mailing addresses were provided, however when we switched to electronic communication, we lost communication with many. Playing catch-up to rebuild database information.

·         Sharon – Provided approval from POO to assist with precincts, can create a clustered precinct if one officer from each precinct is present. Would be counted as separate precincts but would operate as one.

·         BJ – We start to lose people when everything is digital. “Reinvent the wheel” to make sure information is printed to recapture people who were once active to bring them back.

·         Katie – Start early and begin polling via email how people would like to be contacted and receive information. If not received in a certain time, then call people.

Similar to what the events committee is trying to do but create events to build community with fun events and reconnect.

·         Need volunteers for poll greeting and observing.

·         Yard signs will be distributed at polling locations that do not have greeters and will include a QR code with the slate card.

·         If possible, please take the 8^th off to help out.

·         Confirmed board members who will be assisting on 11/08: Byron, Penny, Lori, Mitzi, Bess, Binaya, Bev, BJ, and Kathy.

·         Office across the hall has been secured for election day.

·         Peerly will not work as mass texting is not allowed in NC

·         Possible to buy into the current NCDP program – Kathy is looking into this.

·         Mitzi and Kathy are discussing the possibility of creating a volunteer position centered around voter registration.

·         Would be responsible for coordinating registration activities, opportunities, and locations.

·         Voter registration and education first, voter engagement next.
