We were heartbroken to learn that our good friend and former Chair, Betsy Fox, lost her battle
with ALS early Tuesday morning. Betsy began volunteering with the GCDP more than 20 years
ago, working in the office one day a week. She went on to serve as our Treasurer, then
Greensboro Vice Chair and First Vice Chair. Along the way she was also a Precinct Chair, poll
greeter, poll observer, SEC Member, CEC Member, Treasurer for Democratic Women, a
delegate to the 2008 National Convention and our 2011 Democrat of the Year. She was the
person we called whenever help was needed. In January 2020, when we needed a new Chair, she
stepped up to finish the unexpired term of Nicole Quick. COVID was on the horizon, but we
didn’t know how that would affect a presidential election year. We soon found out and Betsy
guided us through, working long hours with our team. She is already deeply missed by those of
us who worked with her and knew her best. Our thoughts and prayers are with Betsy’s husband,
Richard, their children, Aaron and Rebecca, and all her family and loved ones.
