We will discuss How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them, a 2018 nonfiction book (reissued in
2020 with an updated preface on the increase in fascism) by  Jason Stanley , the former Jacob Urowsky
Professor of Philosophy at  Yale University and current Bissell-Heyd Chair in American Studies at the

University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. The book addresses the rise of
Fascism in the USA and other countries and describes Fascist tactics employed by governments around
the world. Thomas Haifley, Co-chair of the GCDP Book Club, will chair the May meeting. Tom is a
retired clinical psychologist who also taught psychology at Elon University and GTCC.
