***ANNOUNCEMENT: AFRICAN AMERICAN CAUCUS OF GUILFORD COUNTY***
This official announcement details the leadership transition and reorganization procedures for the African
American Caucus of the Guilford County Democratic Party.
Following the July 30, 2026, election of Mitzi Turner as Interim President, the AAC-GCDP has
established a formal timeline for candidates to submit their slates of officers by August 17, 2026. A
nominating committee has been appointed by the Interim President according to the AAC-GCDP bylaws
to oversee this process, ensuring all candidates meet the mandatory 90-day membership requirement.
The leadership slate must include, 1. President, 2. Vice-President 3. Secretary 4. Assistant Secretary 5.
Treasurer 6. Greensboro Chair 7. High Point Chair.
These structured steps serve as a roadmap for members seeking to fill permanent board vacancies
according to the bylaws.
Members who are interested in putting a slate together, must submit their slates to the Nominating
Committee which was appointed by the Interim President and consists of Cheryl Sims,
