Each year, High Point Parks and Recreation sponsors a Summer Solstice Celebration at Morehead Recreation Center, 101 Price St., High Point. This year it will be held on Saturday, August 3. At this event, organizations donate school supplies to be given away, there are health checks, vendors, music, and fun and games for the kids. This year baby supplies will be given to expectant mothers and new mothers. From now until July 31, the Guilford County Democratic Party will be collecting items to donate to this effort. A list of most-needed items is below. Items can be dropped off 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday at GCDP HQ, 2300 W. Meadowview Road, Ste. 110 (Wrightsville Building) in Greensboro.
Donations Needed:
-Sleepers, gowns, undershirts, onesies (preemie & newborn to three months)
-New and gently used clothing (newborn to 12 months)
-Receiving blankets, quilts (35×45), fleece blankets and afghans (30×30 and larger)
-Socks/booties
-Bibs, burp cloths, pacifiers, and bottles (BPA free)
-Toiletries and wipes (regular size and trial size)
-Diapers and pull-ups (all sizes, with most emphasis on newborns)
-Small toys and child-size Bibles
-Baby formula
