At the Guilford County Democratic Party (GCDP) Unity Dinner on Saturday, October 10, we will
recognize and honor two deserving persons, one as Democrat of the Year, and one as Young Democrat of
the Year. We are now accepting nominations for both awards. Below are the requirements for each.
Please read carefully as some requirements have changed.
The Democrat of the Year should be someone who is 35 years of age and older, and processes many of
the following qualities:
Is actively involved in GCDP work for a minimum of 10-years prior to nomination.
Enthusiastically participates and leads in GCDP activities.
Encourages others to become actively involved in the local Democratic process.
Has community involvement in keeping with Democratic Party principles.
In Addition:
Is a proven dependable volunteer.
May be or have been an elected official.
May have been active in Democratic Party Politics outside Guilford County before moving
into Guilford County, North Carolina.
The Young Democrat of the Year should be someone who is at least 16-years old, but under 35-years
old, and processes many of the following qualities:
Is actively involved in GCDP work for a minimum of 3-years prior to nomination.
Enthusiastically participates and leads in GCDP activities.
Encourages others to become actively involved in the local Democratic process.
Has community involvement in keeping with Democratic Party principles.
In Addition:
If still in High School or College am active in Student Government.
If in College is active in Young or College Dems.
Nominations must include completed nomination form and minimum of two letters of
support. The submission deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, September 4, via email to:
