Glenn Romero Chavis was born in High Point, North Carolina. He is married to Gladys McBee. They have two sons, Rory and Trey. Glenn’s love and commitment to his community, and friends, leads him to run for City Council Ward 1. Glenn has served on the following boards and committees: Greater United Way of High Point, High Point Regional Hospital, High Point Museum, Carl Chavis Memorial YMCA, Washington Street Resource Center, Kivett Drive Gateway Committee, 2009 Sesquicentennial Commission, the Citizens Advisory Committee, and the Historic Preservation Commission,, High Point Museum Collection Committee.

I am a High Point University graduate who served thirty-five years for the City of Thomasville, Parks and Recreation Department. In my thirty-five years of government experience and service, I help shape and guide the larger framework of duties by managing various budgets, capital projects, and renovating recreation facilities. I serve on communities-based organizations and committees. (i.e., Board of Directors on Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, Communities in Schools, Special Olympics, and Senior Gams). I undertook duties on the United Way, Teen Center, Youth Council and Reginal Strickland committee. My governance abilities have grown and afforded me opportunities to be a well-rounded confident individual.

Beverly is a retired teacher, team builder and mediator with a conflict resolution background. With this, our proper development of affordable housing and their residents will be in a livable city for all that attracts and keeps businesses. She would like to work with community partners to help reduce crime by improving mental health. High Point is on the leading edge, so let’s continue to improve the central city to provide retail and entertainment for all.
