Greetings Fellow Democrats!
First, I’d like to say thank you to all of you, our precinct officers, for the service you’ve given the Party in 2017. This past year has been a difficult one to be a Democrat. At the national level, we’ve had to endure nearly daily assaults against our Democratic values by Trump and his administration. At the state level, we’ve faced gerrymandering, HB2, and a Republican supermajority run amok. Even locally, here in Guilford County, we’ve struggled to get organized and develop strategy while juggling transitions on our executive board.
Despite these challenges,
- Guilford County has more organized precincts than ever before;
- Fundraising is up from previous years by over $10,000;
- Turnout for 2017 municipal elections was nearly twice that of the last municipal elections.
You, our precinct officers, played a vital role in making these things happen.
As we move forward into 2018, it is with hope and determination. Both Trump’s dismal approval ratings and results from recent elections demonstrate that voters are unhappy with Republican governance. We have an opportunity to continue and expand upon the Democratic wins that swept Virginia, New Hampshire, and Alabama. The first step in doing so is getting and keeping our precincts organized. Organized precincts are key to getting Democrats elected. If your precinct is organized, then it is well prepared to phone bank, canvass, and get voters to the polls!
As you each prepare to organize your precinct for 2018, never forget that YOU are key to the success of the Party! We listened to your concerns and requests from last year, and this year’s precinct organizing packet provides more data and tools to help organize and to get democrats elected. Thank you for your continued dedication and hard work.
Happy organizing!
Nicole Ward Quick, GCDP Chair
This year, the official window for precinct organization meetings is February 5 – 19. In order to be organized and have a vote at the County Convention, you must have a precinct meeting within that time frame.
Times and locations are determined by Precinct Chairs. Once the meeting date/time is set, notice must be sent to Guilford County Democratic Party Headquarters so we can publicize it.
Completed precinct reports are at GCDP HQ within 5 days of meeting. Reports can be submitted via e-mail (gcdpchair@guilforddems.org), mail, or in person (2300 W. Meadowview Road, Ste. 110, Greensboro, NC 27407).
Note: Current office hours for HQ are Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. -2 p.m. If office is closed when you stop by to drop off your report, it can be slipped through our mail slot or under the door.
